On May 13, 2023, the helicopter carrying the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, was forced to make an emergency landing at Raj Bhavan due to a technical malfunction. The incident occurred a few minutes after takeoff from Raj Bhavan, when the helicopter was en route to Satara for an official program. Fortunately, Shinde and the other passengers on board were unharmed.

The cause of the malfunction is currently unknown, but it is suspected to be related to an engine problem. An investigation is underway to determine the root cause of the incident.
As a result of the emergency landing, Shinde’s visit to Satara was cancelled. He apologized for the inconvenience caused and assured the people that he would reschedule his visit soon. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has ordered an inquiry to examine the safety of air travel in the state.
The incident has raised concerns about the reliability of air travel and the importance of ensuring safety measures are in place to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
