On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the Eknath Shinde government has given a gift to the citizens. Now senior citizens, disabled and students will get a chance to travel in Mumbai Metro at concessional rates (with a discount of 25 percent). According to the Maharashtra government, thousands of passengers of this category who use the Mumbai 1 National Common Mobility Card will get this discount. Earlier, the Maharashtra government had given 50 per cent concession in bus travel to women. This will be a gift from Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited and MMRDA on Maharashtra Day. Senior citizens, students and disabled passengers will get this concession for 45 trips or 60 trips on Mumbai-1 Pass.
As per Media reports Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that we have designed the Mumbai Metro network keeping in mind the needs and safety of senior citizens, disabled and children. That’s why they should get maximum benefit of these facilities. Earlier we have made ST travel free for senior citizens and women have also been given 50 per cent concession in ST buses. We have taken this decision in a social spirit and I hope that with this concession more people will travel by metro. Lakhs of women have benefited from the 50% concession in bus travel for women by the government. A crowd of women is visible in the bus.
This facility is for senior citizens above 65 years, students studying up to class 12 and people with permanent disabilities. Passengers of these three categories will have to submit some documents for the concession. Valid documents like Government/Medical organization certificate for handicapped, Age proof for senior citizens and School ID card along with PAN (PAN of student or parent) for students are required. All these discounts can be availed at any ticket counter on Metro Line 2A and 7 on showing the required documents. The discount will also be given on new and previously purchased Mumbai-1 cards and will be valid for 30 days. The Mumbai 1 Card can be used and recharged while traveling at retail stores, petrol pumps and BEST buses.
