Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister: Janata Dal (Secular) Votes Transferred To Congress, Result Won’t Affect National Politics

Share
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the Congress won the Karnataka elections due to the transfer of votes from the Janata Dal (Secular) to the Congress. He added that this outcome would not affect Maharashtra or national politics, as the BJP and Shiv Sena will continue to hold power in the state, and the Modi government will retain power in the upcoming national election. The Assembly elections in Maharashtra are scheduled for next year. Fadnavis also commented on the difference between Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, stating that parties who win in Uttar Pradesh often win national elections, and the BJP’s victory in the municipal elections in Uttar Pradesh on the same day demonstrated this. Fadnavis responded to NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s statement that the Karnataka election result indicated a rejection of Narendra Modi by pointing out that Pawar’s own party did not receive even one percent of votes in Karnataka. The BJP leader also noted that the Janata Dal (Secular) lost five percent of its vote share compared to the 2018 elections, and these votes were transferred to Congress, leading to its victory. The BJP’s vote share remained stable, he added.
