Ganpati immersion is being done with great pomp and show in Mumbai. For this, while on one hand BMC has prepared 170 artificial ponds, on the other hand around 5000 policemen have been deployed for security at different Chowpattys and other beaches of the city. Not only this, BMC has also issued an alert during this period. BMC has asked devotees to beware of being attacked by jellyfish or sting rays during immersion in the sea.

According to BMC, there are large numbers of jellyfish and sting rays on the beaches of Mumbai between August and October. In such a situation, devotees going to the sea for immersion may come in contact with jellyfish or sting rays. The sting of a jellyfish or sting ray can cause severe pain in the affected part of the body. Therefore, devotees should wear gumboots on their feet during immersion. Also, do not allow small children to go into the water during immersion. BMC issued a warning saying stay away from the edges. Apart from this, orders have been given to all ward officers to keep the devotees safe during immersion. Medical teams have been deployed at Chowpattis for immersion.

For security reasons, the police have built 4 watch towers on Juhu Beach, from where every activity on the beach is being monitored. Apart from this, BMC help desk has been set up on the beach, where ambulances along with a team of doctors have also been deployed for emergencies. In view of additional security, apart from Mumbai Police, teams of QRT and SRPF have also been deployed at Juhu Beach.

Not only this, apart from BMC lifeguards, 65 CCTV cameras have been installed around Juhu Beach to keep a close watch on the beach. Around 14 thousand policemen and senior officers have been deployed for security across Mumbai.
