The Enforcement Directorate has sent a notice for questioning to Nationalist Congress Party’s Maharashtra President Jayant Patil. Patil is counted among the leaders close to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. He has been sent this notice by ED in IL&FS case. In the notice, Jayant Patil has been ordered to appear for questioning at 11 am on Friday. Earlier in the IL&FS case, ED had also questioned Raj Thackeray.
As per media reports, ED had earlier on Wednesday searched the premises of 2 former auditor firms, BSR & Associates and Deloitte Haskins & Sells, during the money laundering probe in the case of alleged financial irregularities in IL&FS. The searches at the premises of both these firms in Mumbai, which had audited IL&FS, were conducted under the provisions of the PMLA. As per reports, the officials of the investigating agency interrogated some employees of both the companies and also seized some documents.
The ED had launched a probe into money laundering charges in 2019 in connection with alleged financial irregularities at IL&FS. At that time cognizance was taken of the case filed by the Economic Offenses Wing (EoW) of Delhi Police against IL&FS group companies, IRL, ITNL, its officials and others. The ED had also taken cognizance of the complaint lodged by the SFIO against IL&FS Financial Services (IFIN) and its officials. ED has attached properties of various units in this case earlier also.
