Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the state assembly on Wednesday that policemen would not be hired on contract. He also talked about giving a detailed statement on this matter.

In fact, state Congress chief Nana Patole raised the issue in the House. He said that the government is recruiting policemen on contract basis. Ministers are also on contract. When they take briefing (from officials), they twist the answers, which is why it takes time to answer questions. He asked the government to give a clear answer.

Responding to this, State Home Minister Fadnavis said that no minister is on contract. Deputy CM further said that if you want to come on contract then we will think about it. He said that police personnel are not kept on contract basis anywhere and this will not be done. Fadnavis said he would give a detailed statement on this.

Notably, to address the shortage of constables in the Mumbai Police force, the state government has approved the outsourcing of 3,000 personnel from the Maharashtra State Security Corporation (MSSC). The state home department had issued an order in this regard on Monday.
