Maharashtra: Fraud With Actor Vivek Oberoi, Cheated Of Rs 1.55 Crore In The Name Of Investing In A Film Production Company

Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi has been allegedly duped of Rs 1.55 crore by three people. The accused asked the actor to invest in a program and film production company promising good returns on investment, but used the money for themselves. The police gave this information on Friday.

The matter came to light on Wednesday after Oberoi’s chartered accountant filed a complaint against the three persons at the MIDC police station in Andheri East, an official said. According to the complaint, the three accused, including a film producer, were business partners of the actor and the accused had asked Oberoi to invest money in a program and film production company.

The officer said the actor invested Rs 1.55 crore in the project, but the accused used the amount invested for their own purposes. The actor’s wife is also a partner in the company, the official said.

An FIR has been registered in this regard under sections 420 (cheating), 419 (using identity of another to cheat), 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (having common intention) of the Indian Penal Code, he said. He told that the investigation of the case is going on.
