The demand of the protesters demanding Maratha reservation has been fulfilled. Maharashtra government has issued a conditional GR to fulfill the demand of Manoj Jarange, who is on hunger strike. Marathas are happy after the GR was issued to provide reservation from OBC quota by giving Kunbi caste certificate. However, now on the other hand, OBC community is also moving forward on the path of agitation against this order of the government. A meeting of the OBC community was held in Nagpur on Friday, in which the leaders of the society opposed the reservation given to the Maratha community under the OBC quota. Here, to protest against the reservation given to Marathas under OBC quota, a meeting of all-party OBC community leaders was held in Nagpur on Friday, in which protest was expressed against giving reservation to Marathas under OBC quota. Also, it was decided to start a movement against it across the state from Saturday. The decision of the OBC community may increase the problems of the state government.
On the other hand, on the invitation of the state government, a delegation of Maratha community has reached Mumbai on Friday night to discuss with the government on Maratha reservation. In the GR issued by the government on Wednesday, a condition was imposed that those Maratha families who have documents available to obtain Kunbi caste status in the Nizam clan of Hyderabad, will be given Kunbi certificates. Jarange had refused to accept the conditional GR. Apart from CM Eknath Shinde and both the Deputy Chief Ministers, members of the Cabinet sub-committee formed for Maratha reservation are also going to be present in this meeting to be held at Sahyadri Guest House. At the same time, during the movement for Maratha reservation which is gaining momentum, Manoj Jarange has appealed to the Marathas to remain calm.
Congress leader and former CM Ashok Chavan has said that due to the GR issued by the government to give reservation to Marathas, only Marathas of Marathwada region are likely to get reservation from OBC quota, but those in North Maharashtra and West Maharashtra. Maratha families live, how will they get reservation?
