Maharashtra: Minor Boy Beaten To Death With Bat After Dispute Over Playing Cricket

Chandrapur (Maharashtra): A 13-year-old boy allegedly killed a minor after a dispute over playing cricket in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district. A police officer said on Thursday that the incident took place on June 3, when the accused allegedly attacked the victim with a bat on his head, following which he died on June 5 while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

An official of the city police station said that the minor’s family buried his body without registering a complaint with the police. He told that the mother of the deceased contacted the police on Tuesday, after which the body was taken out of the grave on Wednesday to investigate the matter.

According to the official, on June 3, some boys were playing cricket in a field in Bagad Khirki of Chandrapur. He told that during the game, the victim had a dispute with other boys, after which the accused allegedly hit him on the head with a bat. The victim fell on the ground due to the attack of the bat. He was immediately taken to the district government hospital, where he died during treatment on June 5.

According to the official, the relatives of the deceased cremated him without complaining to the police. However, his mother approached the police on Tuesday and lodged a complaint. He said that the police later exhumed the body for investigation in the matter.

The officer said that a case has been registered against the accused under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He said that the accused teenager has not been taken into custody yet.
