Share

Maharashtra Monsoon News: People in Maharashtra are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Monsoon in 2023. In the meantime, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a relieving update regarding the Monsoon. The Meteorological Department had predicted a delayed arrival of the Monsoon this year. However, the Monsoon is on track and favorable conditions are being formed for its arrival. Considering this, the Meteorological Department has stated in a new forecast that Monsoon could make its entry into Kerala in the first week of June itself. Meanwhile, Monsoon can reach Maharashtra by June 7th.

The Meteorological Department has given a significant update regarding the Monsoon. The Pune Weather Department (IMD) has estimated that Monsoon may reach the coastal regions of Maharashtra by June 7th. The department has stated that the environment is favorable for the Monsoon, and as soon as the moist winds start blowing in the Arabian Sea, the Monsoon will progress rapidly towards Maharashtra.
Due to favorable climatic conditions for the Monsoon, it can enter Kerala on June 1st instead of June 4th. Additionally, it has been forecasted that it will reach the coastal regions of Maharashtra by June 7th.
After a pause, the Monsoon is now progressing!
This year, the Southwest Monsoon made an early onset in the Andaman Sea on May 19th, three days ahead of the usual date. However, later the Monsoon’s progress slowed down, and it came to a halt. As per the predictions of India’s first private weather company, Skymet, there has been a significant difference in the Monsoon’s functioning in the past week.
G.P. Sharma, the President of Skymet, stated that the cross-equatorial flow in the northern and western parts of the Indian Ocean is strengthening. This has created favorable conditions for the advancement of the Monsoon in the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman-Nicobar Islands in the next 2-3 days.
When will the Monsoon arrive in Mumbai?
Usually, the Monsoon begins in the southern state of Kerala on June 1st. However, this year there is an expectation that the Monsoon will commence on June 4th. In 2022, the Monsoon reached the southern states on May 29th, on June 3rd in 2021, and on June 1st in 2020. However, Sharma has forecasted that it might take a week for the Monsoon to reach the South Arabian Sea. Therefore, the probability of a delayed onset in Kerala is very low. Now, it is estimated that the Monsoon will arrive in Kerala on time. In Mumbai, the Monsoon is expected to arrive around June 11th.
Rainfall in Konkan!
The Meteorological Department has predicted a change in weather in Konkan from May 27th. During this period, strong winds and the possibility of thunderstorms are expected. Furthermore, pre-Monsoon showers will commence in the state in the next week. The IMD has forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain in Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Osmanabad on May 29th and 30th.
