Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Friday recorded his statement in a Mumbai court in a defamation case filed against Union Minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane. Raut had filed a defamation case against Rane in April for allegedly making derogatory, malicious and false remarks about him at the Konkan Festival held in Bhandup on January 15, 2023.
It is alleged that BJP leader Rane had said that Raut’s name was not in the voter list and when he (Rane) was in Shiv Sena, he had helped Raut get elected to the Rajya Sabha. In February, Raut issued a legal notice to Rane over his statement, demanding evidence to prove his claims.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader moved a local court after the Union minister did not respond to his legal notice. In this connection, Raut appeared in the magistrate’s court in Mulund on Friday and recorded his statement. The court adjourned the matter till September 29 to examine the witnesses.
