Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has taken a dig at opposition unity. He said on Monday that opposition parties only think about defeating PM Modi, but sheep and goats cannot fight a lion in the forest. Shinde said, ‘Sheep and goats cannot come together to fight against a lion in the forest. The lion will always be a lion and he will rule the jungle.’

Actually, Shinde was asked a question related to the opposition uniting to challenge the NDA. In response to which he said that the opposition only thinks about defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I don’t see the opposition standing anywhere in the contest.

48 members are elected to the Lok Sabha from Maharashtra. Maharashtra ranks second after Uttar Pradesh in terms of number of Lok Sabha members. Whereas 80 members are elected from UP to the lower house of Parliament. Regarding NDA’s position in Maharashtra, Shinde said, ‘My government (BJP-Shiv Sena-Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party faction) has the support of more than 215 MLAs after Ajit Pawar decided to join us. There is no threat to the government.’

Without naming former state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde said, ‘We are working for the people. People will decide whether they want to choose a person who works for them or they want to choose a person who just sits at home.’

When asked about allegations that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was being used to target leaders of the opposition camp, Shinde said, ‘The Enforcement Directorate takes action against those who are suspected to be involved in corrupt practices. It doesn’t bother anyone just like that.’
