There was a big explosion in Malegaon on the night of 29 September 2008. Six people were killed in this motorcycle bomb blast. The intensity of the blast was so high that 101 people were injured. The case is being heard in a special NIA court.

The special court hearing the Malegaon 2008 blast case has directed all the accused under CrPC 313 to be present on September 25 to record their statements. In fact, BJP MP and the lawyer of accused Pragya Singh Thakur had filed an application in the court, in which she had requested to change the date of recording the statement, only after which the court has kept the date of September 25.

She told in her application that the special session of Parliament will run from 18th to 22nd September, hence the date for recording the statement should be kept after the special session. The court accepted her application and scheduled the recording of her statement for 25th September. NIA recorded the testimony of 323 people in this case, while 37 people turned hostile.
