Man Angry After ‘Ola Driver’ Takes Him For A Ride In Mumbai, Demands Extra Fare

An angry taxi passenger’s report of an overcharge while using a ride-hailing service Ola has sparked a storm of rage among similar users.

On July 2, a user (@Vinamralongani) detailed his experience of being conned by a taxi driver while making an Ola booking at the Mumbai Airport in a lengthy Twitter thread.

The customer phoned the driver after using the Ola app to book the taxi, and the driver gave him the go-ahead to arrive at the specified pick-up location in Terminal 2 of the airport.

But when he got there, he discovered that the registration number and the car’s description were incorrect.

By presenting his phone, which had the user’s number on it, the driver, who seemed to be the same person, comforted the passenger. Despite his worries, the user entered the taxi since it was late at night and there was a large line of people waiting.

The user’s phone’s app did not display the start of the trip when the driver requested the PIN to begin the ride. The driver said that there was a network problem and completed the journey.

The user said that he held off notifying either the police or Ola support out of concern for their security. The driver requested an exaggerated cash payment when they arrived at their location.

The user insisted on paying using UPI and snapped a picture of the automobile since they were keen to have a record of the transaction. Although the UPI payment was grudgingly accepted by the driver, the app still displayed the initial charge as Rs 431 rather than the Rs 681 required.

The customer expressed sorrow for taking the car despite the inconsistencies, highlighting the alarming trend of drivers abusing innocent passengers by utilizing the Ola app.

Surprisingly, the app indicated that the journey had not started after the driver had departed. The ride didn’t finish till later and the price returned to the original.

When challenged, the driver claimed innocence with no sign of regret.

The user asked Ola to look into the situation carefully and take the required measures. The user of the ride-hailing service was prompted to share the ride’s CRN.

We can appreciate your distress. We are prepared to assist. Ola Support tweeted, “Please provide the CRN of this ride and registered email ID to us over DM so that we can resolve this for you.

People on Twitter were ready to express their own struggles in response to the most recent occurrence.

When I scheduled a trip yesterday, I had entered my home address, but as I got closer, it displayed my station address. When I made changes, the cost was changed, but the drop was not.I was requested to do twice by the driver, and I ended up paying extra.Pune rides now only accept cash as payment.

A another tweet said, “OLA has become the Biggest Fraud is what I can say if you look at LinkedIn it looks like a complaint portal of Ola.”
