An official said on Tuesday that police had detained a 42-year-old Pune resident who had reportedly threatened to harm Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Rajesh Agwane, the accused, is a ward boy at a hospital in Bombay, and he allegedly made the threatening call to the police control room on Monday night while intoxicated.
“The guy called police control centre number 112 on Monday night to request medical aid. He was instructed to dial 108. (ambulance service number). The individual again phoned up the police control room, he talked in threatening language and to hurt the chief minister,” a top Pune police officer said. He said that the guy had been intoxicated.
“His wife was present, she seized the phone and informed the control room personnel that the guy was inebriated and he did not realise what he was saying and asked to overlook his words,” the official added. The guy was captured in Pune’s Warje neighbourhood. He said, “Further investigation is underway.”
