In the Thane district of Maharashtra, police have detained a guy on suspicion of committing robbery on a highway, an official said on Thursday. According to senior police inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar, a police squad patrolling close to the Mumbra Devi hills on Tuesday saw three people halting a vehicle and making an effort to loot the driver of his possessions.
The officer stated that although the other two managed to flee, one of them, Nadir Mohammad Tarique Siddiqui (25), was apprehended by police while attempts were made to find the other two. The three guys are accused of waylaid a truck on the Mumbra Bypass on March 21st, beating its driver and cleaner, and robbing them of their cell phones and other valuables. He said that there had been several instances of robberies on the Mumbra bypass recently.
The police claim that Siddiqui and his associates were responsible for six instances of highway robberies and assaults on government employees.
