Manipur Clash: Kuki Miscreants Attack Manipur Villages After Amit Shah’s Return, 15 Injured In Firing

At least 15 people were killed when Kuki militants armed with bombs attacked two villages in Imphal West district after Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Manipur.

State police and Manipur Rifles personnel deployed in two villages of Phayeng and Kangchup Chingkhong also retaliated. There was firing from both sides for more than four hours on Friday night. In this encounter, the police chased the militants into the nearby hills.

Those injured in the encounter were taken to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and Raj Medicity, Imphal. It has been told that the condition of the two people is serious.

In the last 24 hours, fresh incidents of violence have been reported from Pombikhok. However, no casualties have been reported during this period. Joint teams of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, and Border Security Force recovered seven bodies from the Suganu Serao area of Kakching.

Police said that the bodies have been kept in the morgue of JNIMS. He said that all of them were killed in the firing during the violence in Suganu last week. So far 98 people have been killed and 310 injured in this violence that started a month ago. During this violence, 37,450 people have been kept in 272 safe camps.

10,000 security forces of the Assam Rifles have been deployed to restore peace in the state.
