Manoj Jarange, who was on hunger strike for the last 17 days demanding Maratha reservation in Jalna, Maharashtra, has broken his fast. Jarange ended his agitation as soon as CM Eknath Shinde arrived. The Chief Minister himself broke the fast by giving juice to Manoj Jarange. Jarange had talked to CM Shinde on phone late on Tuesday night and demanded his arrival.

Manoj Jarange was on a hunger strike on August 29 demanding reservation for the Maratha community in education and jobs. Jarange had said on Tuesday that he would end his fast only if CM Eknath Shinde comes to meet him. After which CM Shinde said that he is in favor of Maratha reservation. The government is taking concrete steps in this regard. Jalange has given one month’s time to the Maratha community to amend the reservation law.

CM Eknath Shinde was going to meet Manoj Jarange on Wednesday itself, but due to some reason could not go. He said that his government is trying to fulfill the demand of reservation for the Maratha community. Shinde said that his statement given on Monday was misrepresented. The Chief Minister said that he was scheduled to go to Jalna and meet Jarange on September 13, but he could not go to meet him. Jarange was on hunger strike in Antarwali Sarti village since August 29 demanding Maratha reservation.Maratha
