Sources claim that the committee is in charge of choosing the Lokpal, the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC), and the future director of the CBI. They said that Prime Minister Modi presided over the committee meeting, which was also attended by the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, OM Birla, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and the Home Minister, Amit Shah, in their individual roles.

According to reports, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhry dissented from the suggestion for the CBI Director and Chief Vigilance Commissioner’s appointment.

On the other hand, the committee has advised the setup panel to select candidates for the position of Lokpal when it comes to that appointment.

Currently, Praveen Kumar Srivastava is the Chief Vigilance Commissioner and Subodh Kumar Jaiswal is the director of the CBI.
