Many candidates are apprehensive since the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has failed to reveal the date of the draw for the Mumbai housing lottery of 2023.
The government had originally set July 18 as the date, but subsequently changed it owing to the prolongation of the deadline for receiving lottery applications. According to MHADA representatives, the date will be revealed in “a day or two.”
In places like Juhu, Andheri, Goregaon, Powai, Tardeo, Ghatkopar, Borivali, Vikhroli, and Sion, there are 4082 units up for grabs in the lottery. 1,20,144 legitimate entries have been approved for the lottery by the Mumbai board of MHADA, and a money deposit of Rs 519 crore has already been made. The unsuccessful bidders will get an online refund.
Namita A, one of the candidates who has filed for a HIG (High-Income Group) apartment, informed Times of India that she has been contacting the MHADA hotline number to find out the precise date of the lottery results announcement, but the staff members on the other end have been unable to respond. “There is no information on the official website either,” she said. The applicant has tweeted the following questions to Maharashtra’s chief minister and deputy chief minister: “When will the Mumbai lottery 2023 be declared?” “Why is there a delay?” and “Why is there no notification on the website?”
The earnest money deposit paid by Mumbai residents for each of the Low-income Group, Middle-income Group, and High-income Group properties is between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1.52 lakh. The Mumbai residents further claimed that the housing authority is making thousands of rupees in bank interest on the total amount of Rs 519 crore during the wait.
There are 1034 residences in the low-income group (LIG) category, for which there have been 60,522 submissions. The LIG apartments chose Pahadi Goregaon as their preferred location. There are 138 homes in the middle-income group (MIG) class, and there have been 8395 applications. Unnat Nagar and Goregaon are the ideal locations for those applying in this category. Shimpoli and Kandivali are the preferred locations for the 2068 candidates in the high-income group (HIG) category, which has 120 units available.
Around 1947 of the 4082 apartments that are up for auction are covered under the PMJAY (urban) plan. The MHADA has mostly constructed these residences in the Pahadi Goregaon region for which it has got 22,472 applications.
There are at least 28,682 candidates for the 843 EWS homes, and the majority of them have picked the neighborhoods of Kannamwar Nagar and Vikhroli as their preferred locations.
