The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) has established a new Mitti Café location, which will be managed by a group of 23 workers with disabilities who have been trained over a three-month period, as a move towards embracing diversity and empowering those with disabilities.
The Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 2 arrival area has a café where travelers may get refreshments.
Alina Alam, the director of Mitti Café, explained the effects of this expansion on people with disabilities when questioned about the goal of this effort.
“This project not only offers job possibilities to persons with impairments, but it also highlights their tremendous potential and skill set. Breaking down boundaries and promoting an inclusive society are things we believe in. Said Alina.
“Customers can order from a special menu card printed in braille, and use small placards to communicate with attendants along with sign language menus and placards with basic instructions,” a representative for the airport said. The 38th shop of Mitti Café will open at CSMIA in India.
As we set out on this wonderful journey dedicated to the cause of employment and livelihoods for persons with special needs, we are honored to be connected with Mitti Café. CSMIA supports this excellent project since it also raises awareness of inclusiveness and disabilities. We believe in taking the initiative and guiding such revolutionary endeavors since we are a conscientious organization,” the statement said.
“Our cornerstone is our Chairman’s goal of ‘Growth with Goodness. When “Mitti Cafe” proposed the idea, there were no second thoughts. The airport is a neighborhood…The chance to offer food and enjoyment to people has been extended to those with disabilities, according to Ashwin Noronha, COO of Mumbai International Airport.
