Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, said on Sunday that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region was expanding and that his administration was making every effort to improve infrastructure and provide amenities.

He was addressing at a gathering in Thane where he also set the cornerstones for new civic initiatives. Along with representatives of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation under the direction of additional commissioner P Velrasu, he claimed to have inspected the under-construction Coastal Road and the Milan Subway in Vile Parle.

A lot of pre-monsoon work has been completed by us. I looked over a few places in the morning, and I’m relieved to report that there were no waterlogging problems,” he remarked. The CM underlined his warning that authorities will be held accountable if pre-monsoon preparations were shown to be subpar and residents experienced rain-related issues.

Since all of these projects require using public funds, he said, “There will be no compromise on quality or quantity.” The chief minister expressed his hope that Maharashtra’s monsoon would be favourable so that farmers can gain.

He urged local authorities to expedite metro construction in Thane and cluster development so that residents could utilise the service quickly. According to Shinde, Thane’s receipt of Rs 323 crore as part of the Amrut Yojana was an excellent illustration of how the state gains when there is a cooperative government at the centre.

MMR is expanding, and the state government is doing all possible to provide residents facilities and improve infrastructure, according to Shinde. He claimed that his administration has made arrangements for the 15 lakh Warkaris, who would congregate at Pandharpur on Ashadhi Ekadashi in June, to be insured for Rs 1 lakh apiece, as well as for regular people to be able to worship at the revered temple even while formal prayers delivered by the chief minister are taking place on that day.

For staging a demonstration in July against suspected corruption in the BMC, he attacked the Shiv Sena (UBT). “They must keep in mind that they held office for 2.5 years when the epidemic was going on. There are claims that 6,000 rupees was spent on corpse bags for COVID victims, which normally cost 600 rupees. The truth will come out via investigation,” Shinde stated.
