Monsoon Update: Mumbai and Maharashtra Await the Arrival of Rainfall
Mumbai: Mumbai, known as the financial capital of the country, has displayed its wrath through the onset of the monsoon season with the arrival of the cyclone Biparjoy. The impact of this cyclone has also been seen in the state. As a result, the monsoon has been delayed in Maharashtra as well. On June 11, the monsoon entered the Konkan region, and it was expected to cover the entire state by June 15. However, due to the cyclone, the progress of the monsoon has been hindered in the Konkan region. This is good news for Mumbaikars as the monsoon has brought joy to the city.
According to the weather department, the monsoon is expected to arrive in Mumbai soon. Information regarding this has been provided by the Mumbai Meteorological Department. It is estimated that the monsoon will hit Mumbai within the next 72 hours. Weather expert Dr. Anupam Kashyapi stated that due to a drop in pressure over the Arabian Sea, the monsoon has become more active. Consequently, the monsoon, which had halted in Ratnagiri, will now progress further, reaching Mumbai within the next 72 hours. This is delightful news for Mumbaikars.
Within the next 72 hours, the monsoon will spread across Mumbai, Pune, the southern and central parts of Maharashtra, Konkan, Marathwada, and other regions of Maharashtra. Starting from June 23, the monsoon is expected to become more active, as stated by the weather forecast. We will have to wait and see if the monsoon arrives directly by June 23.
In the meantime, the cyclone Biparjoy, which originated from Gujarat and traversed through Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, is yet to completely dissipate. Its intensity in Gujarat has not diminished completely, and as a result, various districts are experiencing heavy rainfall. In other words, there will still be some days of rainfall, and the monsoon will commence after June 23. Thus, the last week of June will witness continuous rainfall, as stated by weather expert Shrinivas Aundhakar.
According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of rain starting in Marathwada and Vidarbha regions from June 22 to 23. Specifically, good rainfall is expected everywhere after June 25, as mentioned by Aundhakar. However, due to the delayed onset of the monsoon, there might be agricultural losses. But now, the monsoon will cover all regions by the end of June.
