On Monday morning, Mumbai had heavy rainfall, but the city’s public transportation system was unaffected, according to officials. According to a municipal official, the Mumbai center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday afternoon issued a “yellow” advisory for the city on Monday, forecasting significant rainfall at isolated locations.
Mahalakshmi, Byculla, Malabar Hill, Matunga, Sion, Bandra, Santacruz, Andheri, and some other locations had heavy rainfall in the early morning hours, however the intensity of the rain decreased around 8 am. According to municipal authorities, no significant waterlogging was observed in any part of the city.
According to the authorities, local trains were operating properly on the Central Railway and Western Railway lines. According to a municipal official, there was no route change for bus services provided by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) initiative because of the rain.
The IMD Mumbai projected moderate rain throughout the day with sporadic strong periods in the city and suburbs in its weather prediction for the day at 8 am on Monday. In the 24 hours ended at 8 am on Monday, the island city, eastern, and western suburbs, respectively, got 65.50 mm, 19.74 mm, and 23.56 mm of rain.
