Mumbai: The challenge of preventing the outbreak of leptospirosis along with dengue and malaria during this year’s monsoon is before the municipal health department. In the last week itself, two lepto-symptomatic patients have been found in Mumbai. The municipal administration has decided to take more care so that this danger does not increase during the rainy season.

Two patients were treated for symptoms of leptospirosis in the previous week. The age of one patient registered in private hospitals was 60 years and the age of the other patient was 28 years. After three days of treatment by a local doctor, his fever did not subside. So their blood tests were done. It showed elevated levels in CPK test and decreased platelet count. Also, these tests showed that the number of white cells is more. These patients were given antibiotics. These patients had contact with water.
In Mumbai, water accumulates in places during monsoons. In such cases, walking through water in private and public hospitals increases the risk of leptospirosis due to leg injuries.
-Changes in body temperature. As the temperature changes, the severity of the disease increases. Cold, fever increases body pain and headache.
 – Any fever can be dengue, malaria or ‘leptospirosis’. So don’t ignore fever. Consult a doctor immediately.
 – Individuals who have walked through standing rainwater once, with no leg injuries are classified as ‘low risk’ according to Lepto. However, they should go to the doctor for examination and take medication.
-Humans can contract leptospirosis by coming into contact with water contaminated by the urine of leptospirosis-infected animals.
