Mumbai, Maharashtra – Tension escalated in Malad, Mumbai, as a local businessman reported receiving a threatening call, allegedly from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, demanding an extortion sum of Rs 20 lakhs. Prompt action by the Mumbai Police resulted in the detention of an accused associated with the gang.
The incident came to light when the trader lodged an FIR with the Dindoshi police, citing the threatening calls he received on July 20, at 10:45 pm. The accused has been detained who is describing himself as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The crime branch is verifying his claims. Fear gripped the businessman as the caller demanded the hefty sum, putting his safety and livelihood at risk.
The Mumbai Crime Branch, known for its efficient and swift response to such criminal activities, swiftly took the accused into custody. During the arrest, the police also seized weapons from the detained individual, raising concerns about the gang’s potential involvement in more sinister activities.
According to sources within the Mumbai Police, the targeted businessman operates a catering business. However, it is notable that he does not appear to be a major in the business world, making the motive behind the threats puzzling. Authorities are now conducting a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
