The Mumbai police have charged a 28-year-old mother with tossing her 39-day-old daughter off a building’s 14th story. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday at Zaveri Road in Mulund West, and the accused is said to be “mentally ill” and to have speech and hearing impairments.

The newborn girl, who was caught on the parapet of an adjacent building’s first-floor window after being thrown by the lady, who was visiting her parents, said that the police were alerted to the incident when several neighbors saw the baby resting on the window.

The accused lady is the subject of a murder investigation by the police. The baby was found and sent to a neighboring hospital where she was pronounced dead by a team of police and neighborhood residents.

The youngster was discovered to be residing on the 14th level of the next building after asking the neighbors. “We spoke to the mother and discovered that she and her husband both had hearing and speaking impairments. She came to her parents’ house when pregnant and is from Surat. She reportedly flung the child at approximately 6:30 in the morning, according to a police officer.

As the investigation went on, it was discovered that the accused lady was despondent because she had lost both her father and her eight-month-old kid to sickness the previous year.
