Aniksha, a designer, and her father have been arrested after Devendra Fadnavis’ wife claimed that the lady attempted to bribe her with Rs 1 million in exchange for her “interference” in a criminal case.
Amruta Fadnavis, the deputy CM’s wife, reported the designer’s calls and texts to the Malabar Hill Police Station. According to Mumbai police, no arrests have been made as of yet.
According to a report, Aniksha visited Amruta Fadnavis’ home and had been in contact with her for more than 16 months. Aniksha reportedly promised to provide Amruta information on certain bookies through which they might make money, according to the February 20 FIR, which the magazine obtained. She then allegedly directly offered Rs 1 million to have her (Aniksha’s) father exonerated in a police investigation.
The FIR claims that on February 18 and 19, Aniksha sent many messages, voice memos, and video clips to Amruta from an unidentified phone number. According to a story that quoted the deputy CM’s wife, the lady was indirectly “threaten[ing] and plotting]” against the woman together with her father.
Aniksha and her father have been charged by the police with violating Sections 8 and 12 of the 1988 Prevention of Corruption Act as well as Section 120 (B) (conspiracy) of the Indian Criminal Code. Act 8 deals with “inducing” a public servant using dishonest and unlawful methods, while Section 12 deals with complicity.
