When her plea for a leave of absence was turned down, a worker at a supermarket in Mumbai’s Bhayander neighborhood set a piece of the business on fire. She is not yet in custody.
According to the neighborhood police, they received a call on July 13 about a fire that had been started in the supermarket’s clothing and toy aisle. The staff member, a 23-year-old lady, was allegedly captured on the CCTV in the act, according to a Times of India article.In the late afternoon, the lady set the area on fire.
She reapplied for leave on Thursday when it was discovered during the investigation that her first application for leave had been denied. The lady set the area on fire after being rejected a second time.
According to the report, additional grocery staff used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Police are attempting to determine what caused the fire on the toys and clothing.
The lady was charged with creating mischief by fire under IPC Section 436.
According to reports, the lady was also dissatisfied with her work schedule. She had requested a modification in time, but that request was also turned down.
