A Muslim woman complained of being molested by 30 or so Mira Road society residents after she and her husband kept two goats inside their flat for Bakrid. A day later, a 63-year-old woman from a nearby society filed a complaint alleging that the Muslim woman’s husband had molested her.

Tuesday night, a group of 15 to 30 persons, some of whom were residents, stopped the couple at the society gate as they were returning from the market after their shopping.

“They looked at our vehicle, and my husband was questioned about bringing goats into the apartment. They threatened to remove the goats from our apartment by force. My husband objected to this, and they began to physically abuse us. They tore my clothing during the altercation, prompting me to contact the police, Yasmin Khan said in her police report.

After they reportedly protested and mistreated the couple, 11 persons were charged with rioting and molestation and a FIR was filed against them.

Yasmin Khan, who resides in the Estela Building in Vinay Nagar on Mira Road with her husband and four-year-old kid, submitted the FIR, according to police officers at the Mira Road police station.

The couple had just purchased two goats for sacrifice on Bakrid and had kept them in their apartment.

According to the police, a complaint has been made against the woman’s husband Mohsin Khan under sections 506 (II) (criminal intimidation) and 354 (I) (molestation) of the Indian Penal Code.

Khan, who is a member of chief minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and the shakha pramukh of shakha number eight in Dahisar, allegedly said that he has been the target of political parties.
