Eight people beat a guy to death in Malwani, Mumbai, over a long-standing grudge; five others were then detained as a result, a police officer said on Thursday.
The incident happened on Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the northern suburb’s Ambujwadi neighborhood, and the dead has been named as Ejaz Abdul Sheikh, 45, he added.
Eight people attacked him over a long-standing grudge using rocks, stones, a bat, and a rod. Within four hours after the occurrence, the Crime Branch assisted in the arrest of the principal defendant and four more suspects, including two women.
He stated that although four people were detained on the scene, Mansoor Sayyad Afsar Ali, also known as Sitti, was taken into custody by Unit XI of the Crime Branch.
They have been detained by the police until September 5, he said.
