Panic broke out at the Suman Nagar bus stop in Mumbai’s Nehru Nagar police station area when a man doused a woman with petrol and set her on fire. but to her luck, a rickshaw driver passing by saved her and immediately took her to Sion Hospital. In this regard, DCP Hemraj Singh Rajput of Mumbai Police told that this incident took place in the morning of 14th June. The accused named Sanjay Thakur reached Suman Nagar bus stop. His wife was standing there. Sanjay poured petrol on his wife and set her on fire.
Police say that there was a rift between the husband and wife. Because of this, the victim was living in her maternal house for the last one and a half years. The woman did not want to live with her husband. On the morning of June 14, when the woman reached Suman Nagar bus stop to go somewhere, her husband Sanjay Thakur came with petrol in a can and poured it on her. After this he set her on fire.
Many people were present at the bus stop at the time of the incident, but no one helped the woman. At the same time, a rickshaw driver named Mohammad Ismail reached the spot and immediately stopped the rickshaw and poured water over the woman. After extinguishing the fire, she was admitted to Sion Hospital, where the woman is undergoing treatment.
The police have registered a case against the accused husband in this case. After arresting the accused, the police is interrogating him. After the incident, the police honored the rickshaw driver Ismail Sheikh.
