After more than two months since the first arm of the vital Delisle Road over-bridge in Lower Parel, which connects G K Marg to N M Joshi Marg, was opened, BMC is now preparing to open the left arm of the second arm, which connects Lower Parel to Currey Road, in time for Ganeshotsav, which starts on September 19.

The concreting work has been finished, and efforts are now focused on chores involving the asphalt on this section, according to local authorities.

Following the Gokhale bridge incident in Andheri in July 2018, which revealed deterioration, the Delisle bridge was shut down following an assessment by IIT-Bombay. The commercial districts of Lower Parel, Worli, Currey Road, Lalbaug, and Prabhadevi suffered from its closure for repair since it served as a vital connection, connecting stations on the central and western railway lines with major highways.

Elphinstone ROB in the north and Chinchpokli ROB in the south, both of which are bridges from the British period, are now receiving all traffic.

While locals and commuters will benefit from the inauguration of a piece of the second arm, there are worries that the structure may become overburdened with the rush of devotees for Ganpati darshan in Lalbaug and the surrounding districts beginning on September 19.
