On Saturday, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that on Thursday, US President Joe Biden would visit his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House for their third meeting.

President Biden will visit President Zelensky of Ukraine here at the White House on Thursday, according to Sullivan during the news conference. And this is their third encounter.

Sullivan continued, “It certainly comes at a critical time as Russia desperately seeks help from countries like North Korea for its brutal war in Ukraine as Ukrainian forces continue to make progress in the counteroffensive,” noting Russia’s desperate attempts to enlist the aid of nations like that nation.

He went on to stress the US’s assistance to Ukraine and added that Biden was eager to hear Zelenskyy’s viewpoint.

“President Biden looks forward to hearing President Zelensky’s perspective on all of this and to reaffirm for the world and for the United States, his commitment to continuing to lead the world in supporting Ukraine as it defends its independence, its sovereignty, and its territorial integrity,” said Sullivan during the briefing.

However, NSA Sullivan asserts that the US consistently develops fresh military preparations for Ukraine.

“We are always putting up a fresh military package for Ukraine. We do these drawdown packages around every two weeks.

He also emphasized that an announcement about new weapons for Ukraine will be made shortly.

I believe you may assume that there will be another announcement of further capabilities, weapons, and resources to be sent to Ukraine, he said.

Next week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will go to the United States to advocate for his nation in continuing conversations for help, according to Al Jazeera.

According to Al Jazeera, the Biden administration has requested Congress for USD 24 billion for help for Ukraine, including USD 13.1 billion in extra military aid and USD 8.5 billion for humanitarian relief.

However, other legislators, especially those from the Republican party, have opposed the concept of giving Ukraine extra funding and supplies as it struggles to fend off Russian soldiers.

Additionally, his visit falls in line with a congressional debate on government spending at a time when legislators must enact a budget by September 30.

Nevertheless, Congress has authorized more than USD 113 billion in relief. But according to Al Jazeera, they last received cash in December, which was before Republicans won control of the House of Representatives.

Zelenskyy will also be making his second trip to Capitol Hill since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine started in February 2022.

His first trip was in December, when he spoke passionately before Congress to mobilize members against Russian “aggression”.

Zelenskyy has been abroad seldom in the past since the invasion, but according to Al Jazeera, he will be in the US next week for the UN General Assembly in New York.
