According to media sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) would likely get the investigations into the assaults on the Indian High Commissions in the United States and Canada from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
The assaults on the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom are now being looked into by an NIA team.
about the assaults
Attacks occurred at the Indian High Commission in Canada and San Francisco during the escalating demonstrations over the whereabouts of the Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh.
In relation to the assaults, the Special Cell of the Delhi Police filed two different First Information Reports (FIRs).
The Special Cell filed a FIR under the UAPA and the Explosive Act after hearing that a grenade was also hurled during the assault on the Indian High Commission in Canada.
In San Francisco, California, there was also an assault on the Indian High Commission.
Five-person team looking into London assault
A five-person NIA team has previously been sent in to look into the pro-Khalistani demonstrations in March of this year, when the national flag at the Indian High Commission was hoisted.
On May 23, the squad arrived in London.
The NIA team also had a list of individuals with Khalistani connections, which it would provide to the British government and security services in London.
The file was turned over to the NIA on April 18 by the MHA’s Counter Terrorism and Counter Radicalization (CTCR) branch.
