On the anniversary of the creation of Gujarat and Maharashtra, President Droupadi Murmu on Monday extended greetings to all people, particularly those in those two states.
“On Gujarat Day, I send my warmest wishes to every citizen, particularly to every person who calls the state home. Great people like Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel were born and raised in Gujarat.
“The innovative and forward-thinking citizens of this nation have made enormous contributions to its growth. She wished for Gujarat to keep progressing and for its citizens’ pleasure and prosperity to increase in a tweet that was both in Gujarati and Hindi.
She wished everyone a happy Maharashtra Foundation Day in another tweet.
“Personas like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar were born and worked in this country of saints, valiant warriors, artists, and individuals who left an indelible imprint of their ability and contribution in various professions. Murmu wished all Maharashtrians a good future and sustained growth for the state in a tweet that was written in both Hindi and Marathi.
On this day in 1960, Gujarat and Maharashtra were created as a result of the linguistic division of the former state of Bombay.
