PM Modi And BJP Leaders Lament The Death Of Notable Lawyer Ved Prakash Nanda

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his sorrow over the passing of eminent legal scholar Ved Prakash Nanda, describing him as a well-known figure in the Indian diaspora in the US who was committed to solid India-US ties.

Nanda, a scholar of Indian descent who specialized in international law, was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2018. Nanda, who was born in 1934 in Gujranwala, Pakistan, departed on January 1st, 2019 in Denver.

Deeply sorry by the death of Professor Ved Prakash Nanda Ji, a great professor whose contributions to the legal sector are irreplaceable, Modi said in a post on X. His output demonstrates his ardent support of legal education.

“Nanda was an advocate for solid India-USA ties and a well-known figure in the Indian diaspora in the United States. Sending his family and friends my condolences. Om Shanti,” murmured him.

Nanda’s passing was also regretted by Home Minister Amit Shah. Profoundly distressed by the passing of globally renowned legal scholar Prof. Ved Prakash Nanda Ji. Nanda Ji’s remarkable career was molded by his rigorous academic standards and unwavering dedication to legal education, according to Shah.

“Prof Nanda Ji, a well-known representative of our diaspora living in the US, made a lasting contribution to strengthening the Indo-US friendship. My sincere sympathies go out to his loved ones, friends, and supporters. Om Shanti,” murmured him. In expressing his condolences on Nanda’s passing, BJP leader J P Nadda said that, when a student, he served as president of the Delhi University Student Union and the All India President of the ABVP.

Over the course of his 50 years as a renowned international law professor at the University of Denver in Colorado, he has significantly improved the well-being of the Indian-American community. Nadda prayed for the everlasting peace of his departed soul. Taranjit Sandhu, India’s ambassador to the US, expressed regret for Nanda’s passing as well.

A number of ministers also expressed their sorrow at Nanda’s passing, including Piyush Goyal, the minister of commerce and industry, and S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs.
