PM Modi Meets With The German Chancellor And Assesses The Development Of Bilateral Ties

The meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Saturday included a review and favorable assessment of the growth of their bilateral ties as well as an exchange of opinions on local and global issues.
The two presidents got together in Hiroshima, Japan, for the Group of Seven (G7) advanced economies conference.
“The leaders evaluated the development in bilateral ties favorably. viewed events in the area and global issues from different perspectives,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) tweeted.
It noted that Prime Minister Modi appreciated Germany’s support for the trade and investment agreements between India and the EU as well as for India’s G20 Presidency.
“Glad to have met my friend, @Bundeskanzler@OlafScholz on the sidelines of the G-7 Summit in Hiroshima,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted after the encounter.
According to the European Commission, the EU is India’s third-largest commercial partner, accounting for Euro 88 billion in goods trade in 2021, or 10.8% of all Indian trade, behind the US (11.6%) and China (11.4%).
After the US (18.1%), the EU is India’s second-largest export market (14.9 percent of the total).
