In support of his campaign for the May 10 Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was doing a roadshow while standing on a specially created truck when a cellphone was thrown at him, according to the police.
According to authorities, a female BJP employee who had no “ill intentions” threw the phone out of “excitement”
The Prime Minister was aware of the phone being thrown at the car and informed the Special Protection Group (SPG) investigators who were with him about it. The phone ended up on the car’s bonnet.
“The SPG was tasked with guarding the Prime Minister. The woman (whose phone dropped on the PM’s car) worked for the BJP. Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order), told PTI that the SPG personnel eventually gave it back to the woman.
He said, “It was thrown in the excitement (of the event) and she had no (bad) purpose, but we are attempting to track down the woman since the phone was given to her by the SPG sleuths.
When the incident occurred, Modi was waving to the large crowds of people who had gathered on both sides of the roads, flanked by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, former ministers K S Eshwarappa, and S A Ramadas.
