Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic visit to the US on an official state visit, Congress leader Sam Pitroda has said the prime minister of the world’s most populous country deserves respect everywhere and he is “proud” of it. Indian Overseas Congress President Pitroda is currently on a six-day three-city US tour with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi has focused on his alternative vision of India vis-à-vis the ruling BJP and has been highly critical of the government led by Prime Minister Modi. However, he has supported the ruling party’s foreign policy stance on issues such as confrontation with Ukraine and China.
Pitroda said, “He (Gandhi) knows where we (India) are doing right, we are all in favor of it. And you see, someone told me that the Indian Prime Minister is being welcomed very much. I said I am happy about it because, despite all the differences, he is my prime minister too.”
Pitroda said in an interview – “He is being welcomed because he is the Prime Minister of India. Not because he is the Prime Minister of BJP. These two things should be seen separately.” He said, “The Prime Minister of a country with a population of 1.5 billion deserves respect everywhere and I am proud of it.”
Senior Congress leader Pitroda said, ‘I am not negative about it.’ President Joe Biden will host Prime Minister Modi on June 22 for an official state visit to the United States, which will also include a state dinner.
Let us inform you that Sam Pitroda is the President of the Indian Overseas Congress. Pitroda has taken full responsibility of Rahul Gandhi’s US tour. A day earlier, he has targeted PM Narendra Modi and the BJP government. He said that in the last nine years, power and wealth have become limited to only a few people. India has been polarized in the last nine years.
