According to a statement from his office on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police, which will be held January 6-7 at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, the three-day conference, which is scheduled for January 5–7, will cover a wide range of policing and internal security issues, including cybercrime, the use of technology in policing, challenges in counterterrorism, left-wing extremism, and prison reforms.

Discussions on the timeline for enacting the new criminal laws are another important item on the conference’s agenda, according to the statement.

Additionally, it said that the conference would discuss future issues in security and law enforcement, such as the difficulties presented by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and deepfake, and how to address them.

An additional benefit of the conference is the chance to track the development of concrete action items, which are annually submitted to the prime minister.

According to the announcement, the conference is the result of lengthy discussions on specific issues that included police and intelligence professionals from district, state, and federal levels.

In order for states to learn from one another, best practices from States/UTs under each of the topics will be shared during the conference, according to the statement.

The prime minister has been very interested in the DGP conference since 2014.

He attends all of the conference’s main sessions, in contrast to the prime ministers’ prior symbolic attendance, the statement stated.

According to the report, the prime minister fosters open and informal dialogues in addition to carefully listening to all suggestions. This allows for the generation of fresh ideas.

There will be unstructured, theme-based conversations at breakfast, lunch, and supper at this year’s conference.

This would provide top law enforcement officers a chance to advise the prime minister on important matters pertaining to internal security and policing in the nation.

Since 2014, the prime minister has also supported the nationwide organization of DGP gatherings.

The conference was held in the following locations: IISER, Pune in 2019; Police Headquarters, Lucknow in 2021; Dhordo, Rann of Kutch in 2015; National Police Academy, Hyderabad in 2016; BSF Academy, Tekanpur in 2017; Kevadiya in 2018; and the National Agricultural Science Complex, PUSA, Delhi in 2023.

In keeping with the custom, this year’s conference will be held in Jaipur.

The Union Home Minister, National Security Advisor, MOS for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, DGP of States/UTs, top officials, heads of central police organizations and armed forces, and others will be present at the meeting.
