During his speech at the virtual Voice of Global South Summit, which is sponsored by India, Modi said that New Delhi has prioritized discussion and diplomacy in addition to exercising caution while handling the crisis that has arisen from the confrontation between Hamas and Israel.
He added that India denounced the heinous terrorist assault on Israel on October 7. The prime minister also said that India vehemently condemns the deaths of civilians in the confrontation between Hamas and Israel.
He said, “We are seeing that developments in West Asia are giving rise to new challenges.”
The first “Voice of Global South Summit” was held in January in India to raise awareness of the issues and difficulties that developing nations face.
According to Modi, “The Voice of Global South is the most unique platform reflecting the 21st century’s changing world.”
In keeping with the “five Cs” of consultation, communication, cooperation, creativity, and capacity development, the prime minister also urged collaboration.
“It was a historic moment when India’s efforts allowed the African Union to become a permanent member of the G20,” he said.
The African Union became the new permanent member of the gathering of the world’s major economies in September, marking a key milestone during India’s G20 leadership and the important bloc’s first enlargement since its founding in 1999.
During his speech outlining India’s G20 presidency’s accomplishments for the Global South, Modi said that this time around, climate funding was taken very seriously. According to him, there was an agreement at the G20 on giving the Global South nations easy access to cash and technology for their climate transition.
According to him, India believes that advancements in technology shouldn’t widen the gap between the Global South and North.
