On Saturday, an official reported that the Pimpri-Chinchwad police have dismantled a major sex trafficking operation being conducted from multiple five-star hotels in Pune’s Wakad area. According to Investigation Officer Deven Chavan of the Wakad Police Station, the police acted on a tip-off and set up a sting operation outside one of the hotels where a Bhojpuri actress and a model were allegedly forced into prostitution. Three individuals were arrested for their involvement in the racket and for pushing the two women into the flesh trade for a fee of between Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000. The arrested individuals have been identified as Prabir P. Majumdar, Dinesh Yadav, and Viraj Yadav. The Crime Branch deployed a dummy customer to verify the information and upon confirmation, they rescued the actress and model, whose identities have not been revealed. The Wakad police are investigating the network of the operation and the potential involvement of other individuals from the glamour industry who may be running similar operations in other parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding areas.
