Pune: Teacher At Symbiosis College Detained For ‘offending Religious Sentiments’

Ashok Dhole, a teacher at the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce, was detained in Pune, according to the police, for allegedly insulting Hindu deities.An previous video had supposedly captured the instructor making specific comments in the classroom. The institute’s administrators said that the 18-year college veteran who taught Hindi had been suspended. Dhole, 43, was detained by the police on Thursday.

According to reports, the lecturer made insensitive remarks about Hindu deities that “hurt religious sentiments.” Dr. Hrishikesh Soman, the college’s principal, said that a student had recorded the video while in class. Later, other individuals from a group came to us with the footage and demanded that we take action against him. As a government-funded institution, we have suspended him, and an investigation has been opened,” he stated.

On Thursday, demonstrations were held outside the institution by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student group connected to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). They demanded that the instructor be disciplined. “A Symbiosis College lecturer made insulting comments about Lord Shriram and Hindu deities in an attempt to incite enmity among the students. ABVP members organized significant rallies in front of the institution today in response to this event, according to a tweet from the students organization.

The Symbiosis College instructor was detained in accordance with section 295 of the Indian Penal Code (deliberate and malicious conduct meant to incite religious emotions), according to senior inspector VV Hasabnis of the Deccan Gymkhana police station. On Friday, he will be brought before a judge.
