Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are expected to hold a public gathering in Nagpur between April 20 and 25, according to Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Wednesday. However, the exact date has not yet been determined.
Speaking to media at the Nagpur airport, he said that the state leadership of the Congress would decide the schedule of their protest on April 10 at a meeting to be held in Thane.
Patole said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in power, was oblivious to the fundamental concerns of the populace.
The Congressman questioned the BJP, saying, “Did the BJP carry out any yatra against the farmers’ suicides occurring in the state,” as she took aim at the saffron party for organising the “Savarkar Gaurav Yatra” in memory of the late Hindutva idealist V D Savarkar.
Is the Gaurav Yatra being cancelled because farmers’ power is cut off and their product isn’t being paid fairly? The impoverished, he said, were unable to get nutritious meals.
