Mumbai: The publication ceremony of public leader Balasaheb Desai’s biography Daulat was held at Raj Bhavan. Governor Ramesh Bais, Minister Shambhuraj Desai, Girish Mahajan, Magalprabhat Lodha, Dada Bhuse, Gulabrao Patil, Narhari Jirwal and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar were present on this occasion. Daulat is written by Madhukar Bhave. Rahul Narvekar made a big statement while speaking on this occasion.
Some people create us by their actions. Some people build society and country through their actions. People’s leader Balasaheb Desai is one of them. Rahul Narvekar said that those who built the society through their work, who built the state through their work.
People’s leader Balasaheb Desai worked in the legislature for 7 consecutive terms. Several Executive Committees continued to function till its 14th Legislative Assembly. People’s leader Balasaheb Desai is the name of the person who has done his work for eternity. He took historic decisions in the department where he worked. Narvekar said that Balasaheb Desai decided that EBC means providing education to children from economically backward classes at a discount.
While working in revenue law, he took revolutionary decisions be it new revenue law or clan law. After Malojira, the responsibility of public works department came to Balasaheb Desai and he did a very good job. While in charge of Home Department, he worked to build Police Commissionerate in Nagpur, Pune, Aurangabad. Rahul Narvekar said that he left a mark in the state by doing revolutionary work in the department in which he worked.
Balasaheb Desai served as the Legislative Assembly Speaker in 1977-78. The extent to which Desai took revolutionary decisions. Rahul Narvekar said that after learning something from it, I will soon take a revolutionary decision. It is a matter of luck for me to attend this event. The name of this book is very apt. Narvekar said that this book is going to be a wealth for the next generation.
