Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the PMO had canceled his address at an event in Sikar where Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch a number of development projects, despite though PM Modi is scheduled to visit Rajasthan today.
In response to the claim, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said that Gehlot’s office had told them that he would be unable to attend the event.
Additionally, it said that he was “most welcome” to join the program.
“Respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, you will be traveling to Rajasthan today. I will not be able to greet you during my planned three-minute message since your office, PMO, has deleted it from the agenda. Through this tweet, I sincerely welcome you to Rajasthan,” the chief minister added in Hindi.
Gehlot continued in his tweet by listing requests that “I would have put forward through my speech at the programme” and expressed his hope that the prime minister will meet them on his “seventh visit (to the state) in six months”.
He urged that the Agniveer program for Army, Navy, and Air Force recruiting be abandoned.
In response to Gehlot’s tweet, the PMO said that he has always been invited to the prime minister’s events in the state and that his attendance at the Sikar event would be “deeply valued”.
@ashokgehlot51 Shri Ji, You have received a formal invitation and a time slot for your speech, as per procedure. But according to your workplace, you won’t be able to attend. You’re invited to participate in today’s program.
“You were constantly invited during Prime Minister Modi’s prior trips, and you attended those programs as well. Your name is prominently displayed on the plaque for the construction project as well. Your attendance would be very appreciated, barring any physical difficulty brought on by your most recent injury, the PMO said.
