Rajnath Singh, the minister of defence, urged the medical community on Friday to concentrate more on studies pertaining to public health-related concerns.

He essentially addressed the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) on its 63rd Foundation Day, saying that the nation’s young, strong human resources must be properly developed to take use of their power in building a stronger and more independent nation.

“We all became aware of the value of research in the healthcare industry during Covid. Any study conducted in the health sector has immediate advantages and also has the potential to aid many other nations across the globe. He asked the medical community to concentrate more on research on public health-related problems, saying that even during Covid, we could see how the vaccinations created by Indian scientists and researchers helped not just us but the whole globe.

He praised the NAMS for its contributions to the development of the Indian health sector, medical education, and research, as well as the creation of six AIIMS around the nation and the drafting of pertinent health policies, according to the statement.

Singh emphasised that health is a crucial component of any country’s growth and that it is only feasible for a nation to progress overall if its population are in good health. The health sector is crucial for our society because healthier individuals will be better equipped to work for the advancement of the nation. Because of this, he said, physicians and other healthcare professionals are adored and respected.
