On July 22, as part of events honoring the newly appointed Maharashtra deputy chief minister, the office of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party will be opened in Thane.
A demonstration would also be held on that day, according to Najeeb Mulla, a former corporator for the Thane Municipal Corporation. On July 2, when Pawar and eight other MLAs joined the Eknath Shinde administration, the NCP experienced a vertical split.
While his eight companions, including Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, and Hasan Mushrif, were sworn in as ministers, Pawar was appointed deputy chief minister. Eknath Shinde’s stronghold is Thane, incidentally.
