As per the information received, former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain, who was arrested in a money laundering case, was taken to Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated about 3 days ago. He was feeling “unwell”, following which he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital. A spokesperson of Safdarjung Hospital had said, “Jain came to the Neurosurgery OPD (Out Patient Department) in the morning and went back after being examined by the doctors there.” A senior prison official said Jain was taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital on Saturday, but he wanted to consult another doctor, so he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital.
Significantly, Satyendar Jain is lodged in Tihar Jail after the Enforcement Directorate arrested him in a money laundering case in May. Jain’s photographs showing him “unwell and weak” during his hospital check-up drew sharp reactions from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) “wanted to kill” him. The party said in a statement, “The pictures taken at Safdarjung Hospital this morning are heart-wrenching as he looked unwell and frail, like a living skeleton. He was even struggling to walk.”
